it sounds like a cricket or a baby bird, whats up?

andd.......

i just bought a hermit crab about a week ago and the second day i thought it had a missing leg. today i got a better look and noticed that u was missing but there was a bud there. it seemed as if it had happened about a few weeks before we bough.

he seems to be fine though, he walks around, digs holes, eats, and is now getting used to being help (somewhat lol) it doesnt seems like its bothering him at all, he seems happy

  1. possibly a  mating call or trying to  communicating with other crabs

  2. The sounds you are hearing are normal for hermit crabs.

FYI - A hermit crab will shed it's skin as it grows just like a tarantula. You will need to provide bigger shells for him to move into as he grows. Just put some new shells near him, sit quietly and wait, and watch as he tries them on for size.
