Question:

Why is my hip sore when I run?

Whenever I run, my left hip feels sore. It's not painful. It almost feels like my right leg has lots of strength while my left has none. I don't limp because of it.

I run on dirt trails 5 days a week and the track 2 days a week. I'm very careful about not overtraining, so I don't think it has anything to do with overtraining.

Also: Are there any stretches I might be able to do to make the awkwardness go away?

  1. andrew is right i was thinking the same thing

  2. thats most common thing in the world cuz i used to get that all the time. what it is that your turning left to many times i know this sounds wierd but u are and cuz you are doing this its putting to much pressure on your left side and less on your right. what u should do is turn left and right about the same number of times cuz then it keeps the same amount of pressure on your hips

  3. i have the same problem. from running around the track my one leg gets stronger then the other. and my left leg is also longer then my right one. so one hip is higher then the other. you may want to go to a doctor and try to get orthodics for your shoes because they can measure your legs and see if you need to get special orthodics for your shoes to make your legs the same length like they are doing for me.

  4. well it might be because this one type of acid is building up. so what you can do is have a really hot bath with epsom salt. and if that doesnt work use the stretches. and if that doesnt work that means you shouldnt run for about a week. I had the same thing and it came from not running on soft ground. so every chance you get run on a track instead of on a dirt trail.

  5. it could be your "I-T" band which is a muscle thing that stretches toward that area. ummm stretches. there's one where i sit down w/ one leg straight & the other leg, i cross it over and hug it. Another one is where you're standing up and you cross your feet and lean until you can feel the stretch. Or you can lie on your stomach with one leg bent across your chest and the other straight

sorry if it didn't help, it sort of hard to explain it. its easier to show it to you
