I had been away for two months, when I got home last week, I turned the air back down from 85 to 76 and left for 4 hours. When I got home, the house was still hot, after fidgeting with the unit and thermostat, I got the unit working at about 1am. It has worked great until today. I left early this am and again turned the temp back to 85. When I got home the house was over 90 degress and I now the AC is not blowing cold air again. The thermostat is original and been meaning to replace, so I did to no avail. Unfortunately, my A/C unit is on the roof of the 3 story condo and I can't get up there.

  1. mine did that last summer, we discovered that the wiring had shorted out and as a result the heater was running as well as the air.my local heat/air guy fixed it and everything has been fine since.

  2. It needs freon.

  3. I would guess your filters are dirty enough to be freezing up the coils and blocking the air, maybe. If is is actually blowing warm air your problems are bigger than that.

It could be the condenser coils are dirty and it is overheating and shutting down. Or a list of other things. We would need to know what is running and what is not.
