Why is my internet running so f*cking slow?

Question

ive used disc defrag, c cleaner and disc cleanup so there shouldnt ought to be any junk slowing it down. What could be making it run so slow? It is running so slow that after a while firefox says the connection has timed out or unable to connect. it has now been like this for about 2 hours. i am on virgin media broadband.

how can i solve this problem?

Have you:-

Unplugged your Virgin box, for two minutes then plug it in again (for it to reboot?)

Rung them up and asked, if they do something at their end?

Refresh in on your computer?

They're about the best things you can do, To make it go faster.

internet speed depends on which internet service or plan ur using ??

if u have taken 64kbps plan den its slow

128kbps - medium

256kbps - gud

above 512kbps - very high speeeeeeed

turn off the computer and reboot it start up firefox home page again if not working check the wireless or cable connexion to see if is plugged in properly if not then do so but if nothing happens open up the network connexion on the right hand side bottom of the screen its a computer sign when right clicked on it comes up repair or go to connexion home. now go to repair click repair and wait to it reestablishes it and if it don't fix it self it will come up with whats wrong with it and the error and also the error code if the error is known to you can sort it out your self but if not then ring up virgin and tell them the problem and say the error code so they can type it in on there computer and then they can sort out the problem there and then but they may require you to do some checks and they might go it through with you step by step so you can learn and do it yourself.

Simplest thing to do when that happens is to reset your modem and/or router.  Simply unplug the power source from your modem (and router if you have it).  Wait about 60 seconds then plug the modem back in.  If you have a router wait until the modem is totally back online (about at least 30 seconds) and then plug it back in.  Wait for it to get back online and then try to get online.  If that doesn't help contact your ISP's tech help.  They can run some tests and help you further.

It could be a lot of reasons:

1.  your connection is slow.  ARe you on a shared connection (others in your household or group using the same connection)

2.  is your computer downloading updates?

3.  have you done a virus scan recently?  it could be a virus

if you are using a WLAN then you should move closer to your wireless router. and if your using a regular ethernet port then tough luck on that

you could have a virus. try another computer to see if its the computer or your service. if its your service call up them and ask. or best call up verizon for fios. fastest in the US
