Why is my ip like this?

on counter-strike i made a dedicated server and the ip is always like 192.68.1.87.27015 or something like that.. wtf why cant it be like any one elses and start with a different number then 192.68.1.. i am only connected to one computer and when i go to whatismyip.com its not the one as it is on the dedicated server.. someone please help..

  1. First off don't go to a website to find out your Ip address, 9 out of ten times it is false or someone is tracking you. The best way to find out your true ip address is to go into command prompt and type in ipconfig /all. This will tell you the network settings for your computer.


  2. First of all that number you gave is not an IP address.

    IP's are in this format and this format only:

    192.168.187.255        four groups of three numbers each with the max being 255.

    If you connect to the internet via broadband  (not Dialup)

    You have TWO ip's  one public and one private.

    Doing the IPCONFIG /ALL will show you the PRIVATE IP.

    This is not visible to the Internet.   It is assigned by your router (DSL modem).  Should be 192.168.x*x.x*x

    You router gets its IP from your ISP and that is your public IP address.  .To see your public IP go to   http://whatismyipaddress.com/

    That site is save and will give you some information you need.
