  1. Gis are meant to be somewhat loose so you can move around freely.

However, if it constricts your movement, you should consider a smaller size.

You should be able to move freely, without restriction.  Be careful of pants that are too long because you can trip over them.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Karate giis generally are much lighter and looser fitting. Due to the nature of Karate training which emphasizes striking, kicking and a more limited range of standing throws compared to Judo the karategi has evolved in a manner that maximizes mobility and speed without the extremely coarse and strong fabric required for grappling and throwing found in Judo.

  3. generally gis are very large so that they won't rip during your training. the looser they are the less likely you are to rip them by kicking over your head.

another possible reason is that (depending on how old you are) they expect you to grow some more and so wanted to give you some room to grow so that you don't need to buy one every few months.

  4. it needs to be to big but if it falls down then its to bag.

  5. You want the extra room somewhat so that your body can move easily within it as you stretch, extend and perform different techniques.  I suggest to all my female students that they wear a leotard top or t-shirt underneath since tops sometimes billow open but you don't want a gi tight or form fitting.  It is possible to have one to big but it sounds like you have the right size and just are not used to the extra room that it will afford you to move within it.  Don't worry about it and with your belt tied that will take some of it up and you will get used to it and in a month you won't even think about it.

  6. no its so u can move freely

  7. its likely that it will shrink when you wash it
