Question:

Why is my kitten's a**s leaking?

She's about 12 weeks old now, and for the past two weeks or so, she's been leaking a foul smelling liquid from her a**s. From research, I've gathered that it is her anal sacs. She doesn't seem to be in pain and continues to use her litter box. From time to time, she will "f**t", and I'll end up with one or two little brown, horrible smelling spots on the carpet. I've noticed no behavioral change, as she is a happy, playful kitten.

  1. Braxton are you giving your cat milk or any other dairy? Sounds like it is something in her diet that's not agreeing with her - also cats have allergies to the grains that they use in commercial cat food- like wheat gluten and corns- visit Janet and Binkie's food charts on line to look for a grain free food- you will be directed to a site for diabetic cats owners  but just go to the "diets" - this will give you a list of cat foods that do not contain grains- good luck

  2. It could be what your feeding her! Keep her strictly on some sort of dry kitten food, I'd use science diet. She doesn't need milk or tuna or any kind of people food. Dry kibble & water! If that's not it take her to the vet, they can squeeze out her anal sac.

  3. Ask a vet, they should be able to help you out.

  4. there must be a problem with the trasmisson which causes her to leak

  5. take her to the vet she could have a yest infection

  6. You'll need to get the vet to clear her anal glands and to show you how to do it yourself so you don't need to keep going their,

  7. i'd still take her to the vet to check things out

  8. Generally, as with most feline pets, you need to balance your cats diet.

I had a couple of kittens who were just the same, so I switched them from a moist food to a dry food, that did the trick, also, it must be stressed, you must feed them kitten food and not cat food. You must also remember that they constantly need fresh water.

Generally this will solve the problem but if the problem still occurs after a fortnight I would consult a vet.

  9. Hi! It sounds like your kittens anal glands are overproducing at the moment and the anal sacs are full, when this happens, they must drain to relieve the pressure. Be sure to clean it, and if it is a real bother, you can see your vet who can simply drain all/most of the fluid and tell you how to do it at home, or what can be done to minimize the production of the fluid (ie diet ect). Hope this helps!

  10. Jess, If you want ten coins-- you cant just say eww.

Well,  Firstly I must say-  Weird, but my husband is a vet, so i'll let him discuss with you, here he is,

    BYE!

Hello, Lets cut to the chase-  Your cat has Skin Disease,

Cats (and dogs) have two small sac-like glands just inside the a**s that produce a sharp-smelling secretion.  Occasionally, this secretion will accumulate until the sacs become full.  The sacs may then empty their contents onto the fur or into the immediate environment, especially if the cat becomes frightened or excited. Dr. Jacqueline Nenner, a veterinarian and colleague at East Side Animal Hospital in New York City, has her own fool-proof way to convince skeptical clients.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœIf I suspect that anal gland secretion is the cause of the mysterious odor, I will manually express the cat’s anal glands in the exam room”, she says.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœA minute or two later, as the smell makes its way to the client’s nose, I’ll undoubtedly hear ‘Yes, that’s the smell!’”. Occasional expression of the anal sacs is nothing to worry about.  Other anal sac diseases, however, such as abscesses or tumors, are clearly a concern, and can lead to constant odor.

    Good luck,

Take him to Your local Veterinarian.  And I hope he stays well.

  11. ewwwwwwwww

  12. ok its his/her glands they need cleaned now go to the vet and tell them this and they will put a cutip in there and press down and black stuff will come out and then it wont do that they need cleaned every 1-3 months please put me as best answer if i helped

  13. She shouldn't have this problem at such a young age. If her glands are clogging up, the vet needs to extract them as she will be feeling very uncomfortable.

This happened to one of my 3 cats.

  14. kittens usually don't f**t unless they have something wrong with their stomach. why don't u take her to vet and check. when u feed her canned or dry food, try to buy ones that are formulated for sensitive stomach.
