He's 12 weeks old and very strong and healthy for his age. This morning though, he woke me up at 7am and was crying (or whatever you call it when cats mew a lot and make kind of sad pigeon sounds). I thought he was hungry so I gave him some food, but after like one little bit of the food he wouldn't eat anymore. Then he started gagging for ages and then threw up a tiny bit of white foamy slime. He did that again a couple of times. I tried to pick him up (gently) to wipe the ick off his face, but he freaked out and wouldn't let me touch him. He ran into the hall and hid in his carrier, which usually he hates going in because we take him to the vet in it. He keeps gagging and crying, but whenever I go near him he gets scared and runs away as fast as he can.

What's the matter with him?? He hasn't got worms or anything because the vet checked him out yesterday when he got his AIDS and leukemia vaccination.

  1. Could be having a reaction to something or he could have ingested something that is stuck in his intestinal track.  CALL YOUR VET!!

  2. Double check with the vet....but, sounds like a hairball.  My cats will be on floor with no carpet and run to the frigion carpet to do it.........UGHHHHHHH LOL  But, it's the only way they can stop from getting a big hairball to block their stomachs up with.  I also use some hair ball paste.

  3. Call your vet!  He may be having a reaction to the vaccination.

  4. probly gonna die soon

  5. Hi, you must make sure that he diidnt eat something from the streets, I'm about to tell you something I hope it doesnt scare you, a few years ago I had a cat, we went on vacatio0ns and left the cat woth the maid and one night the cat just didnt return home as he would do every night to eat. we heard some days before leaving that there was a man who was leaving some poisoned food in the streets, maybe my cat ate one and died, we didnt see him again. I hope with all my heart that it didnt happen to your cat. did you ever see him eating grass, because sometimes cats eat grass tu purge their stomach. good luck and take care of your cat, whatch what he does!!!

  6. sounds like he has a hair ball. The foam is not uncommon when trying to get this hair ball up. Sometimes its a all day thing where they just cough and hack.  BUT you should still call your vet. Hair balls are not uncommon but being only 12 weeks old I'm not sure if he is grooming alot at this age and has accumulated that much hair. CALL YOUR VET.

  7. He may be experiencing his first hairball. Or have eaten something he shouldn't have, not necessarily a bug, but like some plastic. Get him checked out.

  8. well when i read your question 2 things came to mind from my many years of cat owning experience .one is a hairball because of the gagging type symptom and two you said he had foamy type of something come out of his mouth and what i know about that is when a cat gets a bad taste of something (mine did that when he licked himself while i was applying flee shampoo) in thier mouth they will foam at the mouth (a vet told me that)and i also seen that when they couphed up hairballs
