Question:

Why is my kitty's nose crusty?

I've had my kitty Rocky since he was 6 weeks old, and he is now a healthy 1 year old (exactly) 16 pound Maine-Coon.

For the past 5 days or so, Rocky has had a crusty nose, looks similar to me when I get a crusty nose, maybe a little raw. Does he have a cold? Respiratory infection? Nothing? He is acting 100% normal, has full energy, and eats and drinks the same amount.

Keep in mind I am a recent college graduate struggling for money, and while I can take Rocky in for anything that he needs, I would rather not if I can do something from home.

Here are some pictures of the nose:

  1. he probably just has the sniffles.

if it gets worse, take him to the vet

  2. If he had a respiratory infection or virus he would have a fever plus not eating as much as he would when he is not sick. The fact that his energy levels have not changed might mean he is not sick, just has a runny nose like people do sometimes. Make sure he gets plenty of water and sleep. Then if it does not change I would suggest to take him to a vet. He may be suffering from allergies. Cats get them too.

  3. your crusty

  4. he has kitty boogers. they will fall out of his nose soon enough. or you can pick his nose with a slightly d**n cotton ball.

by the way how did you get him to sit still for the pics. my cat wont stay still long enough.

  5. looks ok, if it gets green, or any worse, or he stopps eating or drinking you need to get him on anti-biotics.

  6. boogies

  7. If i were you i would take him  to the vet and have the vet check it out!
