My knee was hit by the edge of a table on accident, and now it's in pain all the time, and it's swollen. Do you think I damaged it, and should get it looked at or not?

  1. It is always wise to get things looked at if you are in a lot of pain. In the mean time, rest- moving around on it will aggravate it more, ice- will help the swelling go down and minimise bruising, compression- wrapping a compression bandage around the injury will also help the swelling go down and elevate higher than your heart- for a knee this is best done lying down with your leg up resting on something, such as the arm of the couch.

  2. You don't say if you hit it on the side or front or top but normally when you hit your knee and it pains for longer than a few minutes you have damaged some of the sift tissue surrounding the knee so you should see a doc or strap it up with come cold pacs and linamnet applied for a day or 2. Good luck

  3. you have to consult an orthopedic doctor and ask him for

    X-ray examination if required.
