Why is my lawn grass yellow

  1. It could be because you waited too long to cut it. Ours looks yellow when we do that... but it gets green within the week.  


  2. It depends...if the blade ends are yellow and dried, your mower probably needs to be sharpened.

    If the blades themselves look yellow rather than green, you probably have a mineral imbalance in the soil.  

    Depending on where you live and what type of grass you have, you might be over-watering.  The problems with St. Augustine will be different from the problems with common Bermuda grass.

    In the US, call your county extension agent, and he can tell you what is most common in your particular area.  Every county has one, and they are wonderful resources.
