Why is my little kitten's fur thinning in spots?

Out if his four siblings, he is the smallest. The little runt of the litter died :( and now he is the smallest. There are 3 that look very similar, longer haired little black poof balls, but he has fur thinning mostly around his shoulders and the back of the neck. It is more noticeable today, and parts of his fur have gotten lighter or the lighter is now exposed (?)

Unfortunately they do have fleas, we bath them at least once a week and try to eliminate them from our home. It is very difficult. If I had the money, I would buy advantage for every one of them! I hate fleas so bad!

He is around 6 or 7 weeks old. So, do you think this is a problem, or normal change?

...any help would do. I don't have a vehicle right now, and money for the vet. Thanks.

  1. Fleas cause them to loose hair because they scratch so much...

take a flea comb and comb out the fleas ... kill them in soap or alcohol.

then do this for your house.

IF YOUR HOUSE / cat HAS FLEAS….

I have a NATURAL remedy for getting rid of fleas in your house.

Go to the Store and buy some 20 Mule Team BORAX. (its cheap)

Then sprinkle it all over. Carpets, couch, bedding, pillows, pet beds, car, even wood floors. (NOT ON YOUR PET!)

    THEN VACCUME IT UP.

What Boax does is coats the eggs ... The eggs hatch deformed or unable to reproduce.

You will have to do this 2 or 3x about a week apart in order to get all the egg cycles.

FOR YOUR PET. Use the flea killer that is on the market or use a flea comb (this is also a head lice comb) especially for kittens or puppys who are too young to have insecticide put on them.

Kill the fleas that you find on the comb with soap or alcohol

  2. If you can't afford the vet and have a mother cat having kittens - please get her fixed so you don't have this problem in the future.  That said - go get a flea comb and comb out the fleas (then put the fleas in the sink filled with water so they drown, this doesn't harm the kitten with chemicals.  I don't think fleas cause hair loss, something is wrong, please find the money somewhere to take this poor suffering baby to the vet.

  3. mange or an allergy either way Vet Visit.

  4. flea allergy is why

  5. He is biting out the hair in thse places.. probably do to the fleas or microscopic mites (scabies)...

    cheap and easy fix....

go down to your local dollar store if not to walmart.. buy an inexpensive flea shampoo and spray bottle

First, remove the cat and all other animals from your home...

wash allyour clothes in hot water..

all clothes including towels floor mats bed spreads, pillows, etc

then put 1/4 the bottle of flea shampoo, and 2 tbl spoons of bleach in the spray bottle.. fill the rest with water...

spray carefully... and not directly on fabrics... mist around entire house...

    allow house to air out

then wash the baby with flea shampoo only but do it this way

    in tub or sink...

fill with water about 3inches deep (warm)

    place cat in..

wet with a cup of tub water..

    put shampoo on...

work in for 3-5 minutes seriously

recycle water .. use cup to scoop water up onto cat

this allows the medicine to effectively kill fleas dead!
