Why is my lower abdomen solid like a rock?

Ok so a couple nights ago I was having an awful time trying to sleep. My lower abdomen literally felt like a rock wall. It was really hard. I haven't had any obvious signs of a miscarriage so has anyone ever experienced this? The "solid" feeling has gone away. I am ten weeks along.

  1. This is normal, your uterus is expanding.  Sometimes you will feel the wall more, especially when you lay on your stomach.

  2. It sounds completely normal to me! In both my pregnancies at the beginning I've always felt the "solid wall" in my lower abdomen even before my uterus had risen above my pelvis. Remember that everything is expanding so that means your stomach muscles are being stretched as well which often results in them feeling really hard.

I haven't had a miscarriage, but I have been told by my doctor that if you do you will usually have really bad cramps (like period cramps but worse). The miscarriages that don't have the obvious symptoms are actually pretty rare.

    Hope that helps!
