  1. Another thing to check is your chain,if you have to much play in the chain it will not change gear properley.I presume its chain drive?

If it is to lose take up the slack by moving the rear wheel back, dont leave the chain to long if it is lose because it might jump a cog and wrap around the outside of your gear cogs and spit you off.

  2. Have you checked your oil levels? If the gears aren't properly lubricated they won't change smoothly. If it's not that check the linkages and that the clutch is operating correctly. If all else fails take it to an expert. Don't leave it too long as you could be doing more damage.

  3. depends on what bike.

gears could be worn clutch on it's way out pressure plate worn or even clutch cable stretched or clutch level low cylinder leaking  clutch hose weeping

  4. Year, make model? What gears are you having problems with?

  5. You maybe stomping on the shift lever and not know it. If you have been you may have broke the shifter paw. No big deal though. About $100 for labor and all to have fixed.

  6. After doing all the other stuff mentioned, and you still get clunking try some slick 50 for bikes put it in your oil at next change and you will be amazed at the difference. It coats all your internals in the engine with ptfe. But get advice off your dealer first, good luck

  7. One gear or all gear??

If all gears. It possible that your clutch lever is too much play. And cannot release the clutch completed. Re tight your clutch cable at clutch lever, and leave about 1/8 of play . ( lever to perch ) Perch is bracket that hold clutch lever and clutch cable on handle bar.

Also You didn't give us complete of what kind of bike, If you tell us. Then we can give you answer. Because many bike have different kind of release clutch. release by clutch push rod. or pull lever on clutch cover. If push rod. There possible one bearing between 2 push rods  that " welded" together and cant make good operate. That push rod with bearing is Kawasaki KZ models.  and other too.

Other is broken clutch system. Like broken friction plates in pieces.

That is possible What I am saying. Maybe there is other.

If its is hydraulic system. ( fluid ) that might have air inside the hose or cylinder that push the clutch. If air in it. It will feel mushy while you pull the level. Bleed it and let air out. then you might feel solid pull.

    Good Luck
