Question:

Why is my new woofer blasting???

it is literally blasting in the sense it is bouncing and hitting the floor hard...i play it on +20 so thats a decent volume

the technician guy told me it should not cross -3.

please help

  1. It's turned up too loud.

    If this is part of a home theater, you should look into calibrating your speaker levels.  Radio Shack has an inexpensive sound level meter.  Buy one, and then get a home theater calibration DVD and use it.


  2. You are going to break it if you keep playing it that loud.  Just turn down the k**b on the back of if it is a "powered" sub (the kind with an amplifier built in that needs to be plugged into the wall).

    You may also be trying to get more volume out of it than it is capable of.  If that is the case, you'll have to buy another one so you'll have two, or just take it back for a bigger one.

  3. Turn it down. There's a volume k**b on the back (assuming it's not passive) which needs to be lowered. You also may want to raise the crossover frequency up a bit.
