  1. Beak color has little to do with age. The cere of males is consistent in color, usually a deep puplish blue. However, in albinos and lutinos, the cere is usually pink. Females have white, tan or brown ceres, or ones that are muted white with blue...a female's cere appears scaley, whereas, the male's is smooth.

If you don't believe our answers just take HIM to a veterinarian. Where did you get the bird? If you bought or adopted it you should have asked for and received some sort of certification paperwork with shot records and gender.

Purple nostrils (cere) means that you have a MALE bird.

  2. Are you talking about their "noses"? 'Cause that's called a cere. If it purple, then she's a girl :)

  3. I have two parakeets. The males beak is normally blue or purple. The females is a clear or light pink color. It can be that color at his age because it means he is a male! if you have any questions please mail me!
