Why is my persian kitten so domestic?

I need some hep trying to figure this out. I have had cats (domestics) all of my life. I just got a purebred persian kitten about 3 or 4 months ago, she was the runt of the litter and oh so cute. Anyway. She REFUSES to eat the more expensive brand of food she only wants the cheap food, and when she was a kitten her breeder feed the kittens expensive good food. She also will eat ANY human food and will get into your glass even if its beer. She likes to sleep in the sink and lay on the table. When she was still with her breeder she had her own cat bed but when i brought her home she then and now refuses to lay anywhere but in front of the A/C or in the sink/bathtub or the floor. Among these nasty habbits she also likes to beg like a dog for food, refuses to use her scratch post and most of the time she will not cover her droppings in her litterbox. Now my other cat is 2 1/2 and he is half siamese and he is complete oppisite he hates people food, cleans himself and covers his droppings. I know the breeder took EXCELLENT care of her, i visited with her in her home and saw first hand. My friend told me that it is just a phase and will stop when she get spayed. But any advice or reasoning for this would be appreciated

  1. What type of food are you trying to feed it?  If this was a good breeder they should have given you the name of the food the kitten was accustomed to.  You can't immediately switch a kitten or cat to another food - it has to be done so GRADUALLY.  Definitely get it off the crappy food.  No cat should be eating that and especially so a Persian.  Their coat quality will definitely be affected by cheap grocery store food made mostly of corn.

"She likes to sleep in the sink and lay on the table" - I don't see what's wrong with this.  Cats often like to lay on tile floors or in sinks as it's cooler.  They also like to perch on tables or other furniture.

By your comment about why your cat is "so domestic" are you thinking that just because this cat is "purebred" it should have "manners"?   And these things are "nasty habits?"

She's probably begging for food because she doesn't like the food she's getting.

And my Persian doesn't like to cover his p**p either.  So what?  Scoop it daily.

It sounds like you're expecting FAR too much out of a pet just because of it's breeding.  This is a kitten - not a young child that's gone through charm school.  If these "nasty habits" are truly too horrible for you then I would highly suggest returning this kitten to the breeder so it can find a home where it will better fit in.

  2. Persians are like that, it's there breed. I have a Persian  and it likes different types of food and likes to sleep on his own couch.
