  1. The cell in the generator could be bad. If the cell is bad you wont produce the right level of chlorine. It's not a cheap fix so hopefully it's not that(around 500-800 bucks). Just treat your pool with shock(or liquid chlorine) and algaecide. It will clear the green.

  2. Get a salt test kit to verify correct salinity and before making any changes to salinity.  Makers chlorine generators are not accurate and often need to be cleaned to give correct salinity values.  Your unit may need to be cleaned with a dilute muriatic acid bath to clean out accumulated calcium deposits.  Refer to owners manual or contact http://www.haywardnet.com/ to reprint one for future reference.

In the meantime use Sodium Hypochlorite, liquid chlorine, to super chlorinate your pool. This is best done in the late afternoon when the sun is off the pool.  Raise the chlorine to a level 10x what the test kit says is in your pool.  This should be enough to cook off the green algae.  You can swim the following day if the chlorine levels from your test kit indicate 1-3ppm with 5 max.

Also check your cyanuric acid levels, most chlorine generators require 50-70ppm to protect the small amount of chlorine their units produce on a daily basis.

Once you clean out your unit check operation by taking a water sample from the outlet it should test around 5-7 ppm if operating correctly, also note small champagne bubbles coming from the return line when the unit is on.  If you see these it should be operational.

    You're welcome!!

  3. Clean the generator with some diluted acid. Check to see if your pool needs stabilizer (cyrunaic acid). Run the system for 24 hours @ 100% chlorine production.

  4. first off,put the chlorine genertator to 100% and check water coming out of returns for chlorine....then check pool chlorine levels and conditioner levels...could be no condtioner in pool, not enough salt, the chlorine generator is not running enough of the time,or the cell needs cleaning
