Why is my rabbit scared of me? :(?

I just bought him today, it's a little bunny rabbit and I named him Bugs. He didn't seem scared of me at the pet store at first in fact he jumped right into my hands when I was holding rabbits to see which one I wanted. He showed no signs of fear. But now when I go into his cage to try and get him he hops away really fast into his Igloo, and I've tried luring him out with a carrot and he takes the carrot but if I try to get him he runs away. Did I do something wrong to him? I don't think I hurt him because I've only played with him at the pet store and this would be only my second time holding him. What's the problem?

  1. I just think that he is in a new environment, let him get used to it.Pet him and he will eventually get used 2 u. I have 2 rabbits

  2. When you first get a rabbit it takes a little while to get used to you, but if you just don't force him then it'll be ok. keep giving him treats to lure him out, but don't try and grab him yet, give him a few days. Good luck with your new bunny

  3. take the igloo out for a few days other wise they just hide from the world. try a blanket on top of the cage just on the back so he can see u n u see him. get dark greens n pet him b4 n after u put food in cage-he might jump a few times at u but they probly wont hurt u.

good luck give it a week

  4. he is brand new, and he isn't use to the area

  5. He's probably just nervous with his new surroundings. Give him some time to get used to his new home. In a day or two, he'll probably feel more confident, and then you can start taking him out. Be sure to not ignore him though; try petting him if he'll let you, or just talk to him and give out those carrots every once in a while.

    Cute name, by the way!

  6. give him time. his nerves and scared. its the first day. keeps hand feeding him a carrot every once in a while and he will learn ur a good person. just hand-feed him the carrot smile at him and walk away. DONT try to grab/pick him up becuase he will just keep thinking ur trying to harm him. just do what i told u and he will learn. trust me. i have 3 bunnys. same thing with each of them. and now... the most friendly bunnies u will ever meet! good luck!
