My rabbit is four and a half years old. She is big for a bunny, but not unactive. When I reach down to pet her, she sometimes snorts at my. It doesn't seem normal for a rabbit. What should I do?

Plus her claws are too big, but she won't let ANYONE clip them. It takes three people to clip one nail! Please help!

  1. It's normal! Most of my rabbits are nice and stuff but one rabbit, Mama, she's bit.chy! She grunts and lunges at me when i try to get her out! Once i get her though, she's a little nicer lol idk why she does it! So i would say it's completely normal but idk what you can do for her, I don't think she'll change much. If you hold your rabbit correctly, it will be easier to clip her nails. Have one person cradle her on her back in their arms and cover her eyes with one hand. The other person then clips the nails.

  2. Snorting is normal if the rabbit doesn't like people, and doesn't like to be held.

The nail thing shouldn't be to hard to figure out.  You probably just aren't holding her right.  I'm right-handed, so I hold her scruff and ears with my left hand, tight, it won't hurt them.  Then flip them so that their bottom is resting on something like a table, and you are holding their head up, with their belly and nails facing you.  Then clip away.  If she flails, she won't scratch you, and she won't get away.  Just take a deep breath and reposition her.  Good luck.

  3. The grunting is territorial behavior.  She's warning you to back off of you might get bit.  If she's not spayed, have it done, it will help to lessen this.

As far as the nails, you need to figure out how to trim them.  You can try to cover her with a towel and hold her gently down, then pull out one foot at a time and trim.  If you can't figure out how to do it yourself, your vet's office can do it, they usually charge about $5 or so.

  4. Well is it like its got a cold and like is sneezing? If so please follow these directions.!!! First  give it liquid echinicea on a leaf or put it into its water bottle. This will help its immune system. 2. Go get some dandelion in your yard. Then you need to chop up some vitamin C. You can put the dandelion in a cup with HOT water and put the vitamin C in it so it dissolves. Then add some echinicea to it. Wait til it gets a little cooler and give it some of this mixture to drink. Also, you may take out the dandelion leaves and feed them to your rabbit. I have a rabbit named chuggy who would've died I think, but I did this and he is all good. You can take her to the vet and get her nails clipped. Also, you dont need to do what I said up there if you rabbit is acting normal, sometimes they just do that.
