My 1 1/2 year old boy rat has started having involuntary spasms in his tail. It has gradually gotten more frequent. He will be fine one moment and then his tail will whip around very fast and then its over. When he is resting it rarely moves. I checked him all out and he looks fine. He is eating and running as normal. His demeanor hasnt changed. Aside from being annoyed it doesnt seem to be affecting him. Why is happening?

  1. He could be having balance issues due to an inner ear infection. You need to take him to a vet to find out, as the infection will require antibiotics.

  2. Take him to a specialized vet. Too bad they don't have a web MD for rats..
