Why is my rat making pigeon noises when it breathes sometimes?

I just bought 2 male rats less than a week ago. They are both around 7 weeks old.

Since the first day, they were sneezing a lot. After a few more days, they sneezed A LOT. Just today, one of them started to make pigeon noises when it breathes sometimes. Its not making it everytime it breathes, but occasianally it does. It sounds like it might have some lung problems.

Im planning to return them both tomorrow, since it won't be long before the other rat starts to make pigeon noises too. Cause they both sneezing A LOT.

Does anyone know why

thank you.

P.S.- Im not using wood shaving, so its not its bedding. I think they were sick since they were bought, so its not my fault.

  1. omgshh!!! take your RAT to the hospital. hurry!

its basically wheezing when it breathes

  2. they need a vet ASAP. Its common for rodents to have respiratory infections and it turns to pneumonia which is what the funny noise is. If you return them to the pet store they will probably be euthanised, so decide if you want to take them to a vet for antibiotics or the store.
