Why is my rating PRO in chess? There are other people with a rating slightly higher than mine, and slightly lower than mine that don't have the PRO rating. Also some of them have a star insteaad of circle(as do I), but yet others with the PRO rating don't, why is this?

  1. Pro means Provisional. You need to play 20 games of chess in order for your score to show up instead of the star and Pro by your name. When you loose a game of chess your points go down and when you win they go up. Draw may give 1 or 2 points to either side but will count as a draw not a loss or gain. They give you 20 games with the Pro rating so as to know where to put you to see how many points you have after those 20 games are over. Means on that name you are new to chess and don't have many games won or lost. Email me with more chess questions if you have them. Hope this helped out somewhat.

  2. you need to play more than 20 rated games
