Question:

Why is my rmz 250 overheating?

Within 5 min the oil starts to boil. Before it started ever heating it wouldn't kick start so i had the valves checked and they were fine. It just started overheting. I have oil and coolant in. The water pump turns and everything seems to work properly. The only thing i can think it could be is the jetting or the CDI unit.

Thanks

  1. on certain rmz's and kxf's overheating was a small problem (makes no sense why it only happened to handfull of bikes) but if the problem gets worse high flow radiators and hoses with coolant such as engine ice made for motocross bikes would be the answer

  2. They only run on premium fuel and the timing may be to far advanced.Low octane will burn a hole in the piston.

  3. arent these bikes 2 stroke which means they dont have inlet an exhaust valves

  4. the 04-05 rmz250's are notorious for this because the water pump is too small and the design of the motor in general sucks.  a bigger aftermarket waterpump cover and impeller along with running engine ice coolant will help.

if  its popping or backfiring, the jetting is too lean, which will make it run hot.

  5. take it to ur closest mechanic or motorbike dealershop.
