Question:

Why is my shower doing this?

The water comes out either really hot or cold. Usually, it is scalding hot and won't cool down, even when I turn the hot water down. Once I turn it too far, it suddenly jumps to very cold. I can never get anything comfortable in between.

  1. It's normally what we call a bad mixing valve.........a lot of times the guys doing the plumbing for get to take the valve out when soldiering and s***w up the works inside......and then they never function correctly.......try changing the guts....that should do it..........good luck

  2. If your shower water control only has one handle versus a seperate cold and hot you probably have a bad mixing valve.

  3. Sounds like your valves need lubrication. You'll have to take them apart and use some waterproof grease on them. Or.....you can replace them.

  4. i stayed with my aunt and uncle when i was in highschool and their shower did that. you had to turn on only cold water and then work the hot water in. it was the only way to take a decent shower
