Question:

Why is my shower leaking?

A while ago I installed a shower in my bathroom which previously had only a tub. Since then, whenever I am running water into the tub the water is also coming out of the shower spout. Its not a high preasure leakage, but its enough to be annoying.

Has anyone ever ran into this?

I was told once to replace the two washers the water taps - but I think that would only affect leaks from the handles themselves.

Could my water preasure be too high?

  1. the water pressure is too low

  2. It sounds to me like your diverter is not doing working properly. The diverter is meant to divert the water to the spout only when you want to use the tub. Somehow water is getting throught up to the shower head.

  3. I have the exact same problem. Price/Pfister tells me its a blockage, although I found none in my pipes. A plumber told me the piping was fine, but that the shower wasn't handling the pressure. I've tried 2 brands now with the same problem. Ideas???

  4. The thing you pull up on is called a diverter. It is apparently worn and could be replaced. It is just a matter of replacing the spout.  It is sometime hard to get the right length spout because there are several different models.  Good luck

  5. sounds like the washers need replacing and i would check the pipes to make sure there not loose and theres a good connection.

  6. you have  a third   handle that transfers the water fro m the faucet to the shower  head by route of a pipe  right?

you need to take it a apart and  check if the washer is worn out ......  replace that  or  replace  with new

the cheapest      Ive found is at Lowe's for   $62

      very simple to install

water pressure has nothing to do with it   ........
