Question:

Why is my son a "talent agency" scam artist target?

It has happened twice now with two different scam companies. We're in Walmart (and we don't shop Walmart often, only if Target or the grocery store or Amazon doesn't have something) and some female comes up and starts flattering his looks and personality and dropping famous names and Disney shows and inviting us to screen test. The first time we went and I found out it was just selling some multiple thousands of dollars program (TVKidz) and I later looked it up and confirmed the scam. It just happened again and, wiser now, I looked it up before going and it's yet another multiple thousand dollar "membership and training program" scam (Be productions). Why does my son keep getting targeted? I don't think we look stupid. He is quite attractive and charismatic but we do not look rich by any means. Is there anything I can do to keep these people away from us? How can they legally approach people for solicitations inside a private business while we are trying to shop?

  1. to be honest, i wouldn't be able to tell you why you and your son are getting targeted by these scammers! but a real talent agency would NEVER charge you ANYTHING up front. they only get paid a % of what you earn when they find a job for you. so i guess next time you get approached by these eager salespeople, ask what the fees are. maybe if you pretend you dont know that real agencies would never charge you anything up front, they might tell you what you need to pay? then you immediately know its a "scam." you could probably tell the store managers that there is someone solicitating inside the stores. hope you dont get hassled by these scammers in the future. good luck

  2. It's happened to me a couple times, most of the time the people running the store or, in my case, event have no idea that these people are walking around trying to scam you. And i'm not exactly rich either, and it's not that your stupid either. It's human nature to want to gain more out of life and these people have turned that against you so that they're the ones doing the gaining. In fact, they're probably targetting you because your not exactly rich and you look like your looking for a big break to shoot you to money and fame. Hope this helps.
