Why is my sportster dead?

1999, 883. No power to the electrics, battery sparks, will not jump. The battery acts like it is either dead or has been removed. I was thinking fuses? Ideas, out there everyone?

check all connections, fuses, bad wires, clean terminals etc... It's probably something simple but may take time to find.

Broken positive battery cable at starter. Take out the battery and follow the cable to the starter end which will be broken.
