  1. Working your abs and stomach muscles.

During the first few months of belly dancing, my stomach (lower and upper) would be so sore and my lower back too due to the back bends.

My arms and legs, not so much til later on, when we focused a lot on Turkish fast beat and seperations of the body in more depth.

  2. Its sore as you have just given yourself a work out. Thats good, not bad.

  3. your belly is probably just sore because your muscles arent use to being worked alot as before

  4. My stomach hurt too when I first started. It was because i never used those muscles before. Try stretching before you go to class.

  5. It's really impossible to say with any certainty without knowing just what movements you've been doing and what your experience is.  My dancing has given me sore knees and lower back pain (yes, I know I must be doing something wrong), because I'm inexperienced and, among other things, tried out doing turkish drops before I was really ready.  I suffered my worst belly pains when trying to do sit-ups, part of my ill-fated experience into personal fitness.

Your middle is probably smarting because you are exercising muscles you don't often use.  This is true even with regularly used muscles like those in your legs, and much more so when using your belly which may not get much use at all.

  6. ohh i know this i took lessons it is because you are noving only your stomch and tighting your abs the reaseon for stomach aches is when the stomach rapidly pulsates. because of the fast moving your stomach is rapidly moving which is making your stomach hurt. i talked to nefertiti my teacher and she said it.
