ive had a ten gallon aquarium running for about a month and a half and it seems like a can not get the water clear. i do a 25% water change every 4 days to try and see if that helps but nothing happens. just when the water seems to be clearing up it gets very cloudy again. does anyone know why or how i can resolve this? and i dont know if this helps but i read somewhere that light effects cloudyness? i have the hood light on from around 2 o'clock in the afternoon (when i get up) till about 2-3 in the morning is that to long? or does the light have nothing to do with it

  1. Doesn't sound like you have enough good bacteria in the water yet, or you have too many fish in that little aquarium.

Is it a tropical or coldwater tank?

Try a good bacteria product like 'Cycle'

How many fish do you have in the water?

Cloudy water could be many things need to know more info.

  2. light has nothing at all to do with it

it also sounds like you're actually over cleaning your tank, which in this case, never lets the filter completely cycle out

also, i hope you have NOT changed the filter media since you started with this tank

however, here is a great article for you to read up on everything there is to know about cycling

  3. As already stated, it could be many things. Check out the many articles about tank maintenance and need to know information listed in the source link below.
