After a 6 hour drive from England to Scotland last Sunday, the muscle in my right thigh just above and to the left (my left) of my knee has been twitching. It happens every 5 minutes or so and lasts about 5-10 seconds. Any ideas what it could be and what i should do about it? Thanks.

  1. Hi,

I get all sorts of aches and pains after going for long road trips.  It is probably a sore muscle or ham string caused by putting your foot on and off the accelerator and brake a thousand times.

My Dr's  advice to me is to get out for a stretch and walk every 60-90 mins on long road trips.

It took me 3 months to get rid of back pain after our last trip, we had to buy a bigger car for more leg room.

I am sure this is what is causing your problem too.  If it doesn't settle in a day or two it is off to the Drs for you :)

  2. You have probably caught a nerve - not sure what can be done about it - see your gp if it bothers you or hurts.
