Question:

Why is my ticket restricted on Northwest Airlines?

I'm visiting the states and want to prolong my stay. I changed my ticket last year with no problems and now they are saying my ticket is restricted, it cannot be changed.

No one told us this. Is there anything I can do?

  1. Unless you bought a full-fare unrestricted ticket, almost all tickets are restricted depending on the price you paid, there are many fare classes that determine the restrictions and penalties for rescheduling and cancelling flights. You must have purchased a more restricted ticket this time than you did last year. Unfortunately there's probably not much you can do, as you agreed to the terms of the ticket when you bought it. You may be able to change your return date, but most likely will have to pay a penalty to do so. Otherwise, see if you can find or get the fare rules that pertain to your ticket, it should have the information you need. Good luck.
