Question:

Why is my tire losing air?

I have an 08 Chrysler Aspen, and the computer reads that the back right tire is losing air, slowly- (going down about 2 PSI a day). I took it to the dealer, they put a new valve on it, but the problem still occurs. The car also seems level.

The car also has 17,000 miles on it

Is it a computer glitch or is the rim bent, etc.....

  1. you could test with pressure pen in the morning and compare it with the computer reading. if the pressure pen says it is losing pressure then it might be a rim problems. i get that same problem too

  2. Using a tire gage, confirm the tire is losing pressure over the next several days. If it is losing pressure, take it to a reputable tire store and have them inspect the tire using soapy water. The escaping air will form bubbles on the surface of the tire indicating the location of the leak. Have them also check the valve stem and where the tire seals to the rim. They may have to look close to find a 2 psi per day leak, but it will show.

  3. for starters don't go to the dealers, they tend to drag out the problem as long as possable, but i would say you probley have a small nail or s***w somewhere in you tire, I would take your car to agoodyear, Firestone, Pep Boys, any place that deals with tires.

  4. is it really going down 2 psi a day? have you measured the air cold, with the same tire gauge today and the day before? a real tire gauge?

  5. Small hole, or a bead( mating surface between tire and rim) leak.

  6. maybe its flat

  7. IF you took it ot the dealer and there is no problem than it must be a computer error get that checked out too

  8. did you ever think it could have a hole in it new cars run over nails same as old cars

  9. Did you bump a curb or something?
