Question:

Why is my tongue swollen/why does my throat hurt?

A few days ago, my throat starting hurting. It felt sore, but not like a sore throat/cold type thing, but more like something was a little swollen?

Then this morning I looked at my tongue, and I realized the soreness my throat felt was really just the way back of my tongue, and the part of my tongue that's visible (in my mouth,) underneath it looks slightly redder and a little swollen.

I'm not allergic to anything, and I haven't been exposed to anything. I have been spending several hours a day in my basement, and I don't have a great sleeping schedule as of now.

Any possible reasons my throat is sore/why my tongue is swollen? It hurts more when I swallow, and I can't sing as easily or clearly, though I still can. Should I be worried at all?

  1. You might have a viral or bacterial infection, or you could be anemic - a red, swollen tongue is a symptom of anemia.  Get your parents to take you to your doctor so you can get treated.
