I live in a split level home and the other night there was a bad rain storm and the next morning the carpet in the basement was soaked and the rugs in the laundry area.There is a drain down there,could water have come up through that drain?And does it have anything to do with the low water pressure?Help!

  1. Water in the basement is due to water leaks; you need to make sure the sump pump works and is large enough to do the job; it sounds like it may be too small..

    Low water pressure is not directly related.  I suspect the water utility had distribuion problems.

  2. sound like you have a broken water main.

  3. I'm not a plumber but I have had something to do with water pressure;

    1. There is air in the pipes which has to be purged by turning the main tap in the bathroom on full.

    If this doesn't work

    2. There is a leak from your pipes which must be corrected by a qualified plumber.

    Always make sure you check out tradesmen's credentials before letting them work.

    Good luck.
