I am using a D-Link Rangebooster G (Gold series) with a D-link high gain antenna on attached. The antenna is positioned vertically in a 45 degree angle. I have on Super G Mode without Turbo (there is a dynamic turbo option), 801.11g only Mode on, Extended range mode on, and its on channle 11. It will be full bars (five) but every 2 seconds will drop down to three bars. It will not stay still.

Any advice?

  1. this device is useless you should purchase tplink WN620G

that iam using of full speed

  2. I believe it has to do with how many people are online, but make sure that your wireless network is secured with  a secure password so that other homes in the vicinity cannot tap in and drain your connection down.

  3. You could try changing the channel to a different channel. Sometimes other channels work better. I'm not sure how far you connecting through wireless, but any obstacle that gets in the way will cut down the signal. For example if you to connect a string from your computer to your router what all is in the way and what all gets in the way. Line of site is the best way to get good connectivity. By line of sight I mean if you can see the router from where you are sitting at your computer then you have line of site. If you can't then you don't.

You might want to consider upgrading. There is a new router out that has a farther range than 802.11 G and it has a faster speed. It is called 802.11 N. Or you might want to consider getting a high gain dbi antenna for your router. You can get these antennas to boost your signal. You can get signal for up to a mile away with some of these dbi antennas.

  4. I have this same unit myself. Your antenna should probably be straight up. There could be a issue with your cable modem. Speed can change at any time due to how many people are online at the same time.
