I recently bought a Linksys N ultra range plus wireless router and on my PC, I have a wireless adapter. My signal strength is low. I live in a small house. My computer is in my room, and the router is in the living room. Would the signal strength increase if I bought a different wireless adapter?

  1. it doesn't matter what the strength is as long as it works

  2. Ahhhh... a had that problem also....first thing a bought: Linksys N Ultra WRT600n.....did it work....No. My problem was worse because my house is built in armed concrete=> BIG problem for wireless. I then Bought a Belkin, i would then be connected but wouldn;t have internet every 10 mnts. THen bought the one you have.... worked ok but not Good enough. So thinking i  had to change all by old PC to 802.11N, i went to best buy and asked a professional. He recommended me Airport Express. So me being a little greedy, decided to buy 1 Airport Extreme and 1 Airport Express. I am a PC user, though my bro has a mac. Installing was spr easy. Extreme as a wireless router and Express as a Repeater or "Booster". Now i have 4 PC 1 mac and 1 xbox 360 and ps3. I trully recommend this product. Online Gaming is a blast . I looked everywhere for the best router.... coudn't find it.... but i am so glad I bought it.....

Also if you have a little house just by 2 Express....Much cheaper and really work. Dont buy Linksys Range Expander... its only compatibe with Linksys old Access Point.

    Hope this helps you.

  3. If the router came with an arial make sure thats connected, friend of mine made the same mistake.

  4. Just because the little window says your signal strength is low doesn't mean it is, does the connection actually go slow?

If it does you can try moving the router up higher and away from concrete or anything else that may be making it hard for the signal to spread out.

Or it could just be that the weather is bad, if it's cloudy out that will impact a wireless connection.

You can buy a booster if you want to but they don't generally make that much of a difference.

  5. I would say that it may depend on how  far the wireless router and PC is, or also how thick your walls are. Id say move the PC close to the wireless router and see if the signal is stronger. There's no reason your signal should be weak.
