Why is my xbox flahing green/red?

I was playing then When I turned it offf it turned off as normal but when I went to turn it back on it turned on green turned off turned back on off again and then started to flash red/green. it has repeated this pattern everytime I turn it on. what happened?

I hate to tell you this but, your xbox has probably overheated...

You can either send it in to Microsoft if your still under warranty,

or you can chance fixing it yourself...
