Why is my xbox make weird noises while playing Halo 3?

Just over the past couple of weeks now, my xbox has started to make weird noises that it never had made before. At first, I thought it was just loading and it was doing it but now it won't even let me play the older maps so long as the xbox is making the weird noise so please answer my question because I am extremely curious and woried that it might be something bad.

I take it you mean Xbox 360 if you're playing Halo 3.  

I've had troubles with my Xbox 360 as well.  It actually broke and I had to call Microsoft's Xbox division to get it replaced for free - this happened twice!  (Microsoft is good about it though - they pay for shipping and send you the box to send in your console).  I had the three red flashing lights which is a big problem.

I think this happens because the motherboard in the console gets warped because the Xbox 360 gets really hot.  The new console I got back is so loud now with the fans to keep the motherboard cool.
