  1. Because in general soda is bad for your body but also the diet soda contains aspertame in it which is a chemical that will kill your liver which hurts your body.  Even if you are not dieting you should NEVER drink diet!!!!

  2. The artificial sweeteners require additional water to metabolize; some contain caffeine which is a diuretic, which puts a strain on your kidneys.

  3. well, I learned in college (food and beverage management, had to take food and cooking classes)  that the artificial sweeteners actually make you more hungry.  I don't remember exactly how they do it, but they can make you eat more because they trick your body into thinking it is hungry.

that's the only reason I can think of, other than the artificial sweeteners are really bad for you, but so is the high fructose corn syrup in regular soda.  Remember, everything is fine in MODERATION.

  4. There is nothing wrong w/ drinking diet soda to lose weight. Diet soda is 0 calories therefore it is impossible to gain weight while drinking it. In fact, if you are used to drinking sugary sodas, juices, or fruit drinks you will likely lose weight drinking diet soda.

Diet soda is best in moderation though b/c the phosphoric acid can leach calcium from your bones and teeth. This can wear the enamel off of your teeth and make your bones more vulnerable to fractures. Generally, the recommendation is no more than 2 diet sodas per day. Otherwise, drink water or fat-free/1% milk.

Dieting has developed negative connotations in the U.S. b/c people associate dieting w/ restricting food. The truth is you can eat whatever you want and still lose weight. Yes, this means fast food too. The key is portion control. Eat slowly and stop when you are full. So don't go on a diet. Make a lifestyle change for the better. Incorporate activity into daily life by climbing stairs or walking. Eat more fruits and vegetables. And enjoy a variety of foods! I hope this helps.

  5. Count the calories, and all that other bad stuff for your body!
