1st i planted tomatoes about 2 months ago maybe more, they are in big enough pots, in the warm shed and have sunlight, all they are doing is getting really tall, they are supported on bamboo sticks and i water and feed them often without over doing it, and also put them outside so the wind helps them grow strong, but there is no sign of flowers yet WHAT SO EVER???, next are chillies, it is prob not hot enough for them in the shed but i have no where else?? next to runner beans, the leafs are growing and i have them outside in the flower bed, the slugs where eating the leaves but i solved that with some beer traps, but how long should they take to grow the actul bean itself?.. Oh and cucumbers again platned for at least 2 months and no sign of nothing, the soil smells like a cucumber but no fruits? (i know they grow in the ground and like it deep) and potaoes in the flower bed, they are growing green coloured stalks but thats it... all that i have grown so far is some cress Ha Ha!

  1. First, cucumbers grow above ground on a vine that runs in all directions.  Potatoes will grow underground below the greenery,  Depending on if the tomatoes are from seed then two months should be near the time they start to bloom.  It will be as much as 30-45 days after that before they produce.  Beans and peas from seed take as much as 3 months to start producing.  I planted in April and am just now harvesting everything.  The squash has been producing for about 3 weeks and the pumpkins are about 1/4 grown.

  2. have you been saying the magic words?

  3. Your tomatoes need bees.  Did you start them from seed or buy plants? they need to be planted so that they have a strong root system or they will grow leggy and not produce.  Beans should start producing soon check for flowers on them, and how can you tell about the potatoes until you dig them up?

  4. Sounds like your feeding all your plants with a real high nitrogen based fertilizer which will give you all leaves and next to no flowring or fruiting..Back off on the fertilizer..and they need alot of direct sunlight...about 6 hours minimum a day..8 to 10 is best... All purpose miracle grow is very high in nitrogen...If you are using it quit...Use a fertilizer high in phospherous and potasium  that produces strong roots and fruits...I use miracle grow brand Bloom Booster on mine after they are established..not all purpose miracle grow..here is a picture of it..
