Some Olympic athletics are broadcast live here starting around 7:30 PM EST because that's 7:30 AM in Beijing, which is when track and field is often done. Some are broadcast live here in the morning, corresponding to nighttime athletics in Beijing, such as basketball.

Cause black runners can see better than whites in the dark...and that helps them get to the finish line faster...and the USA has mainly black runners...:)))

Simple - because they're half way around the world - they get to the next day or closer to the next day quicker than we do on this side of the world.
