  2. because hes one of the best of all time a great hero to the sport and a good looking guy you know looks do sell and also because his fight he has lost have been very close and mayweather was a split decison..... and anyways his life story is a very tough road to the top

  3. Oscar has had this Golden Boy image since the Olympics.  He is seen as a very personable, smart, charismatic, and friendly guy and has Hollywood good looks.  And yes though he has some losses on his resume, he has always fought the very best fighters out there and done quite well winning several title belts along the way.

  4. Because he fights everyone- he doesn't duck the hard matchups like Mayweather. He even went up to 160 and fought Hopkins - lets see Mayweather take on Pavlik! Oscar is also a nice guy and olympic gold medal winner, handsome - in other words, he is EVERYTHING Mayweather isn't!

  5. He promised his mother on her deathbed that he would win gold at the olympics for her, and then he did so. Furthermore, he is a very good boxer, and the no. losses has to be weighed against the number of big fights he's been in.

Being photogenic and being a rather caucasian-looking Mexican also help.

  6. Oscar is a good fighter but nobody who is involved in this sport professionally would say he was a great fighter. Oscar was built because he is articulate, good looking & has the ability to cross racial lines as well as draw the females. If you paid attention to some of his early fights he would win by stopping fighters who were not even hurt, the ref would jump in to supposedly save the other fighter but the fact is that Bob Arum made him.

Ask any sports writer this question, If Oscar was under any other promoter other then Arum would he have been as successful? No way, Arum is a genius at building fighters, that is a huge part to Oscars success. Look at the biggest pound for pound fighters out there today as well as years back who they fought under? Top Rank.

Oscar winning Gold and being as marketable as he was only made it easier for everyone. On top of that boxing is 70% Hispanic & the Hispanic fans are very loyal.
