  1. The government can not do anything about the high cost of fuel. We live in a free enterprise system; if the government was in charge of the price of fuel, it would be much high that it is now.

  2. There isn't really much they can do. In case you haven't noticed, oil companies are not part of the government, and the politicians are afraid to intervene in the oil companies' internal affairs for fear of making the prices worse in the long-run instead of better. Maybe we'll get something more done when Bush is out of office, but the bottom line is that there's not really a lot the government can do right now that doesn't risk making things worse in the future.

  3. put beans in your gas tank and see if it will make gas

  4. obama will send out more stimulus checks to help pay for gas until he can fix it.

  5. All they could do is repeal the gas tax( the money that pays for road repairs)

Other than that it is out of their hands

  6. Beacuse the government gets their cut in Federal taxes. They could give us a break on the tax, but they choose to keep their cut of high cost of gas on a weak dollar.
