  1. This is a question of semantics.  Pictures of naked people can and often are "art."  The word "pornography" by definition refers to those pictures of naked people which are *not art*, regardless of the definition of "art."  Conceivably, non-pornographic materials could be erotic, however pornographic materials are intented to be only lascivious and nothing more.

A safe definition of pornography would be "visual materials which were not intended to be art by their creators, and are intended to appeal only to lascicvious or prurient interest."

  2. It is art.  It's just typically not very good art.

  3. Nobody likes to be called a negative name. Or be in a 'undesirable' position at your career, so most put a ' nice name ' on it.  When you have children, would you like your child to get undressed and pose for photographs for 'older men' ?  Personally, I would search my heart to find truth.......God Bless...

  4. Well to start with the word pornography itself is predjudicial. It means, a graphic reduction to mere acts of flesh. And it and obscenity are legally defined as something that only appeals to lust absent any serious literary artistic or political message.

Though why an expression in flesh or an appeal to lust as opposed to say, the appeal to other appetites that gourmet restaurants make is bad is just something assumed and never explained.

  5. not all pornography is obscene, nor is all that obscene pornography.

p**n most certainly is an art form. it might not be high-falutin' but that is OK, every hard has a different place on the "falutin'" scale.

in any case, it is not always clear where the boundary is between art and entertainment, or if there even is such a boundary.

  6. For the same reason that a meth lab isn't a science fair project.

If someone has to explain it to you, you're probably incapable of understanding the distinction.

  7. it varies from society to society and person to person. it depends on what your idea of p**n is. to some p**n may be any form of nudity while to others nudity if not displayed in a sexually suggestive manner may not be p**n and they may only consider p**n as displaying a a sexual act.

  8. Because its just not right to display a woman's body in public like that. Don't those women have an self respect?

  9. Why do you think it IS an art form?

  10. What is so "artistic" about it?  "Oh look at the way she moves her hips while he slams her home.....she is so ......artistic"!!  LOLOL.

  11. In my opinion, there is a fine line between the two, and basically the difference comes down to one thing: MONEY. Pornography is a business that produces the material only to make a profit. Art is not, and is done for the enjoyment of the viewer/reader/listener.

  12. Basically, nude art is art because it deals with elements like form, light, composition and so on. Pornography isn't art because ti deals with sexual stimulation and fetishes. While some sexual acts could be done artfully, most of them are done in a gross and obscene manner which exists purely to stimulate sexual desires and, therefore is not appreciated as a form of art.

  13. "art" is the most overused and meaningless word in the dictionary.  It means NOTHING.  "Art" is a purely subjective concept which nobody can define and nobody can defend/oppose with any amount of credibility.

Thus, pornography is an art form and it's not. And it's complete irrelevant either way.

  14. I think that may deal with the fact that they're wanting to be obscene.

  15. When it's art it's called "erotica".

    Cheers
