Why is prostitution illegal in this day and age in virtually every state?

eror- If that was the case with the Christianity thing, then why is abortion legal, and why is homosexuality able to be practiced so freely, if we are so Christian?

Well it shouln't be but it is. I feel if you want to sell your body and it;s your body.............. go for it.

It's not hurting anybody but you in the long run, but the laws states that buying s*x  ( or sexual acts)is illegal. I guess it kinda falls under buying  a person.

It's hypocritical and stupid if you ask me. Prostitution has been around in every society and culture, no matter how strict they are/were. Decriminalizing it would be good for the economy because of the taxation. It could be regulated by the state. They could make sure several guidelines are followed such as condoms at all times, and making sure the workers don't have any diseases by screening them frequently.

The same government leaders who are anti-prostitution are the same ones using it like that hypocrite Eliot Spitzer. Half of the politicians are clients of these escort rings. I remember when they said escort agencies were real excited when the Democratic/Republican conventions came to NY in 2004, because it meant nice business. Can't remember which party members they said tip better though.

The goverment has a problem taxing it.Kind of the same reason pot is illegal and alcohol is legal.Any one can grow a plant in their home.Its a little harder to have a brewery or a distilery in your home.If it were legal in all fifty states lots of women could have ther own home business.

It's a slippery slope, and given our history on slavery and religion (mainly christianity), I don't think Americans are going to be welcoming prostitution any time soon.

Because it doesn't benefit the government. It is money taken out of the economy.

Because it's hard to tax prostitution.   Anyway there are some bad STD  diseases.  so prostitutes need to be regulated like they do in Nevada where it is legal.

Because they are called "escorts" ;).
