Pubic hair has three main functions: to provide warmth, to protect the s*****m and p***s, and to prevent friction during sexual intercourse.

Curlier hair is able to spread in more directions that straight hair, so since it spread to more areas it can provide more warmth to your genitals.

The curly hair covers your p***s and s*****m, protecting it from any possible threat, like a small yet sharp splinter. The splinter will get tangled in your curly hair instead of going down and getting stuck in your skin or s*****m.

Most importantly, when anyone has s*x their pubic area slaps and rubs against their partner's. The hair prevents chafing or any friction, which could be very uncomfortable when your making love to a person. The hair around you bladder and s*****m help limit the friction and pain when your balls slap against your partner's skin.

Who knows?  But I am glad that there is the difference between the two.  I like to make sure I won't have long enough pubic hair to get curly and coarse.

Pubic hair is meant to partially protect the genitals. Pubic hair is also supposed to capture the scent and pheromones secreted from from the genitals so it will tend to be coarser. It also acts as a display of physical and sexual maturity.

I concur with Andre_Kisser, it would look really weird if your pubes looked like normal hair on your head .

It can be coarser but isn't always darker. Mine is lighter. I have red hair and my pubes are a lighter shade of red.

I suppose it is coarser because it is meant to be protective. Some people's is definitely coarser than others.
