Why is public transit staying the same price when gas keeps going up?

the public transit in my city is owned by a private company though

  4. Since it's owned by the city, there has to be a vote to raise the price of it.

  5. most transit agencies are subsidized anyway and in most cases

    before a transit agency can raises fares they have to hold a public meeting to tell the public (they just cant say well today

    we will change our fare from 1.00 to $1.25 )

    and they can do usually only around certain times of the year

    (sine they would have to reprint the fare brooches or poster

    etc)

  6. The higher gas goes up, more people take public transportation, and it actually makes more money.  They could probably lower the price.
