  1. Quartz  (SiO2) is one of the commoner minerals on earth so it will be found in sedimentary rock in some form. SiO2 can be crystalline & pure or as a component in other minerals. Since SiO2 is not very soluble it will erode into sand, collect, and become cemented into some form of sandstone.http://www.quartzpage.de/gen_types.html
