Why is quicksand called quicksand when you sink slowly?

  1. I don't know but it is probably the same reason you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway.


  2. its not named after the quickthat means fast.

    its named after the quick that means 'living'.

    and well, living sand makes a lot more sense, since quicksand is sand that moves, floats as it where.

  3. When compared to regular sand it may seem like you  sink fast because in actuality you can't sink on normal sand. So as you can see little acceleration is quicker than none.

  4. When you're the one sinking, it doesn't seem very slow at all.

  5. Why do you park on a drive way and drive on a parkway?
